Text Reader is a free text-to-speech extension that reads web pages aloud. Select any text, or read a whole article in one click, and listen hands-free with the voices already built into your browser. HOW IT WORKS - Read selected text: highlight text, then click the extension icon, use the right-click menu, or press your own keyboard shortcut (default Alt + R). - Read full page: turn any article, blog post or long web page into audio. - Sidebar or mini player: use the floating sidebar, or switch to a compact play / read page / settings bar that stays out of the way. - Your voice, your speed: pick any voice installed on your device, or let Auto match the language of the text. Adjust the reading speed to suit you. - Light and dark themes. GOOD FOR - Listening to long articles while you cook, commute or multitask - Giving tired eyes a break - Reading support for people with dyslexia or low vision, and for auditory learners - Proofreading your own writing by ear - Language learners who want to hear pronunciation PRIVATE BY DESIGN - No account or sign-up - No ads and no tracking - Text is read on your device with your browser's built-in voices, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else - Your preferences (voice, speed, theme) are saved only on your device Text Reader is available in many interface languages, and the voices you can choose depend on what your browser and operating system provide.
