Overview
Make Google Chat look and feel like Slack — themes, Lato font, auto light/dark, toggles. Cosmetic only; no data leaves your browser.
Slackify for Google Chat restyles the Google Chat web app (chat.google.com) to look and feel like Slack — without changing any of Chat's behavior. WHAT YOU GET • 9 Slack themes — Aubergine, Jade, Lagoon, Clementine, Banana, Barbra, Mood Indigo, Gray, and Tritanopia (high contrast) • Custom themes — build your own: pick a sidebar, accent, and top-bar color with the built-in color picker; readable text and hover shades are derived for you. Save as many as you like. • Light / dark message area that follows your Google Chat appearance setting automatically • Slack's Lato font, flat messages (no grey bubbles), full-width left-aligned messages, compact density, row hover, highlighted open conversation, #-prefixed spaces, Slack-style date dividers, mention pills, and code styling • Per-feature toggles in the popup — turn any piece on or off instantly, no reload PRIVACY — THIS IS THE WHOLE POINT • 100% cosmetic: it only injects CSS and tags page elements for styling. • No network requests of any kind — it is technically incapable of sending data anywhere. • The only permission is "storage", used solely to remember your settings. • No analytics, no trackers, no remote code; it never reads or stores your message content. • Fully open source — verify every line: https://github.com/sujeet100/gchat-slackify WHAT IT DOESN'T DO It doesn't touch threading, search, notifications, shortcuts, or huddles — only the visual layer. A skin can deliver Slack's look, not its workflow; that's intentional and honest. For people who moved from Slack to Google Chat and miss the feel.
